Bulgaria on the Doorstep of the Eurozone:
High-Level Conference to Mark the Country’s Euro Area Accession
The Republic of Bulgaria will join the euro area on 1 January 2026, marking a historic step toward deeper European integration and long-term economic stability. To mark this milestone, the Ministry of Finance and the Bulgarian National Bank will host a high-level conference entitled “On the Doorstep of the Eurozone” on 4 November 2025 at the Boyana Residence in Sofia
Held under the auspices of the Minister of Finance and the Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank, and with the participation of Prime Minister Rossen Jeliazkov, the event will gather leading European and international leaders of the decision making and regulatory institutions to discuss Bulgaria’s entry into the euro area and its role in a changing Europe.
Key speakers include Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund; Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank; Paschal Donohoe, President of the Eurogroup and Minister for Finance of Ireland; Valdis Dombrovskis, European Commissioner for Economy and Productivity; and Pierre Gramegna, Managing Director of the European Stability Mechanism.
Through high-level discussions and dialogues, the conference will explore how euro adoption will strengthen Bulgaria’s economic resilience, attract investment, and support growth.
